Skørthallen in Hørsholm, Denmark–the home court of Danish hockey club Rungsted Seier Capital–has been renamed as Bitcoin Arena after Bitcoin billionaire Niklas Nikolajsen’s sponsorship.

Swiss-based Bitcoin Suisse AG, Nikolajsen’s virtual currency trading platform, entered into a three-year sponsorship contract with the ice hockey club partly owned by Lars Seier Christensen until 2021.

Skørthallen was formerly sponsored by the Saxo Privatbank, which branded the arena as Saxo Bank Arena.

But with the sponsorship of Bitcoin Suisse, the said arena will now be branded as Bitcoin Arena.

Reports said Bitcoin will be heavily used in the promotion of the team and games. Patrons will also have the chance to win cryptocurrencies.

A local report said Nikolajsen is Danish but has lived in Switzerland for many years. His company has also been serving some of the most successful initial coin offerings (ICOs).

Earlier this year, Slovenian City Kranj hosted the first ever Bitcoin monument in the world.

Called “Round About Kranj,” it was conceptualized by a team composed of Selman Čorović & KRARH Society as designer, Samo Košnik as planner and Aleksander Frančeškin & Žerial d.o.o for production. The project was financed by crypto exchange Bitstamp and tech start-up 3fs.
