Coinbase To Add Ethereum Classic SoonJun 12, 2018 at 22:30
San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced it is adding Ethereum Classic (ETC) on its platform soon after test phases are completed.
In its announcement, Coinbase said its intention to add support for ETC is consistent with its process of adding new assets to its ecosystem.
The crypto exchange said it is now working on engineering work for supporting ETC.
“As part of this process, customers can expect to see public-facing APIs and other signs that the asset is being added,” it said.
No firm date has been laid down but Coinbase said it will announce the official launch date for trading ETC on its blog and Twitter account once it reaches final testing phase of the technical integration, which is expected “over the next few months.
The exchange said ETC will be first supported on Coinbase Markets, Coinbase Pro, Coinbase Prime and eventually on Coinbase.
“Coinbase will list assets only after they are listed on Coinbase Pro and Prime,” it said.
To be listed on Coinbase, the exchange will evaluate factors including liquidity, price stability, and other market health metrics.
“It’s also worth repeating that Coinbase Markets, Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime will likely have more assets listed on the platform than the Coinbase platform, i.e. listing on Coinbase Markets does not guarantee listing on Coinbase,” it said.
