Air France-KLM Taps Blockchain Travel Ecosystem To Cut Down Travel Costs

Major airline company Air France-KLM has teamed up with blockchain travel ecosystem Winding Tree to leverage on the technology and reduce travel costs.

In a statement, Air France-KLM and Winding Tree will be developing blockchain technology in the travel industry aimed to make travel offers advantageous to customers and more profitable to suppliers.

“Through the use of the blockchain technology, the number of intermediaries will be reduced ” the airline said.

Sonia Barrière, Air France-KLM’s EVP for Strategy and Innovation, said they are among the first airline groups to join Winding Tree to develop Blockchain technology.

“With a long-standing commitment to innovation with start-ups and partners, Air France-KLM is constantly creating the future of travel and devising solutions to make the travel experience easier and more personalized. With Blockchain technology, we aim to revolutionize exchanges within the travel industry for our customers, companies and start-ups,” she said.

Winding Tree’s B2B platform gives users a wide range of offers and packages which can be customized to their needs.

Under the partnership, Air France-KLM will be testing Winding Tree’s technological developments and providing feedback as the development progresses.
